A STORY THAT DEFINES THE ISSUE. Lori stuck her head inside the door and asked if I had a moment. I had an open door policy with all my employees so I motioned her inside expecting a job related conversation.
When she sat down, she started to cry. Then she told me that she was pregnant and didn't know what to do. Her parents were divorced and not living nearby, so perhaps I was the only authority figure available. But that's just speculation.
As she talked about the possibility of an abortion, I began to ask questions to better assess her situation. From her answers I concluded that the young man with whom she was involved really did love Lori. He had been asking her to marry him in fact. But Lori, to her credit, didn't want the pregnancy to force him into a decision.
The next day I brought Randall, the young man, in and verified the information I had gotten from Lori. So I advised them to get married and have the baby. They took my advice. Twenty-five years later that baby is a handsome, talented 6'3" Marine. Everytime I get to see him, I know we did the right thing.
You may have chosen this topic because, like Lori, you have an important decision to make. Or perhaps you are still having difficulty over a choice you made some time ago. In any event, let's take another look at this subject. Then consider our advice in this matter.
FIRST OF ALL, you are to be applauded for seeking advice on this matter. It is a serious thing to make a choice that affects the life of another human being, especially your own flesh and blood.
THE ABORTION INDUSTRY. Around 70 million abortions have taken place in America since 1973. The reason? There is plenty of money to be made in this business.
In Europe, by comparison, a so-called "woman's right to choose an abortion" does not exist! If an abortion is allowed, a government clinic does it. This removes the profit motive. It also eliminates the big propaganda machines that work here in America to generate paying customers. This results in very few abortions relative to our totals.
Americans aren't aborting babies for the love of killing their offspring. Again, it's the money! To get your money, the clinics will explain away the danger and the consequences. After the procedure is done and they have your money, they will disappear. You will be on your own to deal with the aftermath.
IS A FETUS A PERSON? An industry wanting your money describes the fetus as a biological mass of tissue. When we see a pregnant dog or cat, we know they are carrying puppies and kittens, right? So what's difficult about calling what's inside a human mother a "baby"?
The abortion business says it's not a person until birth occurs. This is to reduce guilt and make you more willing to pay for their services.
A REAL AUTHORITY ON THE SUBJECT. The Bible says just the opposite some forty times. It says life begins at conception (Psalm 139:12-16 and Jeremiah 1:5) Which source of information do you think is correct? God's Word further states that life is precious to God and that its sanctity should be respected. "Children are a heritage from the Lord...a reward from Him" (Psalm 127:3).
Finally, the Bible shows that God knew every one of us long before our bodies were completed in the womb. (Jeremiah 1:4-5)
. The abortion industy cares nothing about the opinion of a Holy God. There is money to be made. But they couldn't survive if it were not for women who want their problem solved and out of sight quickly. But whether you are a provider or a receiver of services, God does not condemn you for anything you have done. His "business" is loving and redeeming people. He offers solutions that last a lifetime. Just keep reading and see.
A WOMAN'S RIGHT TO CHOOSE
It is said that pro-life groups want to deny a woman her right to choose what's best for herself. Once again, you need the courage to separate truth from self-serving propaganda.
Before conception, a woman has all her constitutional and personal rights. She can choose to just say no! She can choose to protect herself. She can insist the male wear protection. All the choices are there. The problem is the failure to make the right choice -- to choose to control your own body.
Today a woman's right to choose is chiseled in stone. But when a women doesn't like the choice she has freely made, should an innocent baby be sacraficed to reverse it? |
